4th Asian Architecture Students’ Colloquium (4AASC)

The Centre of Sustainable Design & Built Environment (COSBE) organized 4th Asian Architecture Students’ Colloquium (4AASC) from 23 to 28 October 2023. The 4AASC was participated by 70 staff and students from:

·       HUA QIAO University

·       University of Warmadewa

·       Petra Christian University

·       Cheng Jian University

·       Kunming University of Science & Technology

·       Shanghai Institute of Technology

·       Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman

This year, the 4AASC aimed to foster connections between UTAR and our MOU partner universities through an interactive and hands-on workshop themed Sustainable Design with Bamboo. The 4-day bamboo workshop was held at Tadom Hill Resort in Selangor. Students worked in teams to build a bamboo structure to act as an emergency shelter. The final product was assessed by several judges. University Warmadewa emerged as the winner beating six other universities. After the workshop, the participants were taken on an educational tour in Kuala Lumpur. The event was technically supported by the Architect Association of Malaysia (PAM) and the Malaysian Bamboo Society (MBS) with bamboo materials provided by Tadom Hill Resort.  We would like to record appreciation to all who contributed to the event, especially speakers and judges including Ar Adrianta Aziz, Dato' Dr.Marzalina bt. Mansor, Ar Najib Ariffin, Ar.Alvin Lim, and student helpers from UTAR Architecture Students Society (UAS).

“Hello Future”, the other team from UTAR won Honorable Mention Prize and 2nd Place of Integrated Expression at international level.  For their effort, they won a total of RMB 2,000 + 1,500 = RMB 3,500. Congratulations to both team!
